On September 9, 2012, members, spouses and guests of the Kalamazoo Model Railroad Historical Society went on a Rail Fan trip to Coopersville, Michigan to ride the Coopersville and Marne Railroad as guests of the Grand Rapids Model Railroad Historical Society.

It was a chilly day to begin with, but it soon warmed. The 14 mile round trip from Coopersville to Marne and back was taken at a sedate pace on smooth trackage. The scenery was mostly backyards and farm fields, but several crossings gave us the opportunity to wave to railfans and traffic stopped at the crossings.

While stopped at Marne, the engine ran around the train and coupled to the caboose at the other end for the return to Coopersville. A generous "Hobo" lunch was served during the trip.

Check out the rail line and tours on the Coopersville and Marne website.
