Video DVD for Sale!
Before The Kalamazoo Model Railroad Historical Society expanded its facilities in 2014, and replaced the original layout with our new expanded layout, a video was produced of a trip around that layout. Cab and track side video were merged.
Excerpt from the DVD jacket:TURBINE on the CP&E
It was a hot day in August 1960 when Union Pacific, Turbine #61
found its way onto the property of the Cooper Park and Eastern
Railroad. The crew was surprised as was all of the personnel of
the CP&E. The President of the railroad grabbed a dozen crew
people, handed them movie cameras and scattered them over the
line. He then proceeded to climb into the cab and ordered the
engine crew to couple up to a train. He recorded the cab ride as
the engine proceeded west from East Franklin Yard to the Western
terminus of Cooper Park Yard and back to East Franklin, then back
to Cooper Park, where he had it routed off the railroad and back
to the UP.
This video has been taken from all the various cameras that the
President collected, had the film developed and edited. It was
discovered only after developing that the microphone of the
President's camera was not working and that the camera itself was
having problems. Therefore the in-cab video is not of the same
quality as the rail side video.
The video was taken at the Society's headquarters in Kalamazoo,
Michigan, and funds raised by its sale support the building expansion
and the new layout.
All video remains the property of the KMRHS.
