Video DVD for Sale!

Before The Kalamazoo Model Railroad Historical Society expanded its facilities in 2014, and replaced the original layout with our new expanded layout, a video was produced of a trip around that layout. Cab and track side video were merged.

Excerpt from the DVD jacket:

TURBINE on the CP&E

It was a hot day in August 1960 when Union Pacific, Turbine #61 found its way onto the property of the Cooper Park and Eastern Railroad. The crew was surprised as was all of the personnel of the CP&E. The President of the railroad grabbed a dozen crew people, handed them movie cameras and scattered them over the line. He then proceeded to climb into the cab and ordered the engine crew to couple up to a train. He recorded the cab ride as the engine proceeded west from East Franklin Yard to the Western terminus of Cooper Park Yard and back to East Franklin, then back to Cooper Park, where he had it routed off the railroad and back to the UP.

This video has been taken from all the various cameras that the President collected, had the film developed and edited. It was discovered only after developing that the microphone of the President's camera was not working and that the camera itself was having problems. Therefore the in-cab video is not of the same quality as the rail side video.

The video was taken at the Society's headquarters in Kalamazoo, Michigan, and funds raised by its sale support the building expansion and the new layout.
All video remains the property of the KMRHS.

Price: $10.00 plus $8.00 Shipping and Handling - See below for ordering information.

TodayInHistory Computer Program!

The Kalamazoo Model Railroad Historical Society is distributing TodayInHistory, a computer program for your desktop that displays events that occurred on the current day in history. Version 3.9-2009 is now available. In addition to the features listed below, new features include the ability to add your personal events to be displayed in addition to the events supplied in the database. Click here for sample of the display.

The TodayInHistory database currently contains 2367 historical events and will be expanded in later versions (see "Special Offer" below). It can be run from a desktop icon and/or from a scheduled task that starts when the computer boots-up. When the computer date changes, the display will change to events of the current date. If TodayInHistory is minimized when the date changes, it will re-display on the desktop. Date range options allow display of a contiguous range of days. Web-like searches are available to find events specific to a railroad, location or any other keyword across all dates. Date format and font sizes allow enhanced readability of the display.

The computer program and data are products of members of the Kalamazoo Model Railroad Historical Society and all proceeds are being donated to the building expansion fund.
